Silly Survey

1.Has anyone ever made you so mad you punched something?
I've come pretty close, but instead of punching my brother, who made me mad, I threw his spaghetti all over him. It's a long story!

2.Have you been to both Disney Land and Disney World?
I went to Disneyworld when I was 2 and I've been to Disneyland dozens of times.

3.What is the highest number of animals you’ve owned at one time?
Just one, I think.

4.Have you ever kissed your grandma on the lips?
Of course!

5.What is your favorite car of all time?
Hmmm, that's tough! I loved the brand new Suburban I rented when I took the day care kids to the zoo. It had leather seats and a dvd player. But, if you want like a hot sports car or something, I think I'll choose the Aston Martin Vanquish in black or pewter.

6.Have you ever broken a tooth while eating something?
Honestly, I was chewing gum in 1998, at the now hubby's parent's house, and I bit down on one of my front bottom teeth and it hurt real bad, made a loud noise and became very, very loose, like it was going to fall out. The dentist had to bind it to the other tooth. Very strange.

7.Do you dress in a “style” like ‘preppy’ or ‘goth’?
I am a bit trendy, but I like to be conservative too.

8.If you ran into Bob Barker what would you say to him?
I don't know if I'd say anything to him.

9.Do you sleep with a fan on at night?
Yes. I like to have the fan going, so I can cuddle under the comforter and stuff and not be too hot.

10.Can you bench press your own weight?
Don't think so.

11.Have you ever created a survey for myspace or another blog?
Once, yes.

12.What is scarier, being chased or being mugged?
Mugged.

13.Where is the worst place you have worked?
Sandola's at the Hyatt. Simply because they took advantage of me and kept prolonging the training period. I worked a rehearsal dinner...a huge one with one other waiter. And I worked my butt off. And since I was training, I made no money...just my hourly $2.50 or something wage and then the guy I worked it with, kept the whole tip. THE WHOLE TIP!!!!

14.Do you know every word of the national anthem? Do you know the name of it?
Of course I know every word to it. Do you know how many times I have performed the National Anthem, Star Spangled Banner, with choirs and things?

15.Do you work out regularly?
I would love to. I really enjoy working out. It's just hard to find the time. By the time the kids are in bed and everything, I am just exhausted. I worked out when I was preggers with the mister, and I need to start that routine again with this baby.
I do love going to the gym though. I like to use weight machines.

16.Do you know the full name of the first person you kissed?
Yes I do.

17.Can you touch your toes?
Yes.

18.Does anything scare you?
I don't like spiders.

19.What’s your middle name?
Kristin

20.Have you ever snuck out of the house as a child?
Nope

21.Do you drink, and if so, what age was your first drink?
I think I was 20 when I had my first drink. I don't really drink now..maybe on a special occasion, or if I have an urge for a mudslide or something at a restaurant.

22.Can you hold your breath under water for 1 minute?
Probably

23.If you had to guess, how much do you pay in hair upkeep cost per month? Since, I don't make the money I used to make in Arizona, my monthly hair upkeep is just the cost of my shampoo and conditioner.

24.Can you drive stick shift?
Never have.

25.Would you go into a burning building if you heard a child screaming inside?I might, yes.

26.Does anyone in your life have more than 5 tattoos?
I dunno.

27.Have you done any drugs before, and if so, which ones?
Nope, never.

28.Have you been or are you married?
I am married

29.If you had to wear only one kind of shoes for the rest of your life, what kind would they be?
I guess I would choose a tennis shoe, because it's hard to hike, walk in snow, or work out in flip flops, which would be my preference.

30.Are you a lover or a fighter? Lover, but if you get me in a fight, watch out. I can have a temper.

31.If you could have any super power, what would you want?
The ability to heal disease.

32.Is there any movie that you WILL NOT watch?
Hostel

33. Red or Blue?
Blue

34.What 1 material possession could you “not live without” as they say?
My computer, definitely.

Conversation with the miss

Tonight at dinner, I had the following conversation with the 3 1/2 year old miss.

Miss: I am a princess
Me: You are?
Miss: Yes.
Me: And where do you live?
Miss: In a castle with two cars.
Me: Two cars, huh? What colors are they?
Miss: Purple and yellow and I have a truck. It is yellow with black on top.
And my hands do magic and I turn into pink Spiderman.
Me: Oh, I see.
Miss: And I have two boys waiting for me downstairs.
Me: You do? How old are they?
Miss: Six (She then rests her head on her hand and smiles at me)
Me: Two six year old boys downstairs?
Miss: Yes, in the playroom and they are climbing all over the place. And I tell them they will get owies that hurt real bad.
Me: Oh. Do you have any pets?
Miss: Yes, they are in my bath eating.
Me: They eat in the bath, in your bath?
Miss: Yes
Me: Doesn't that get messy for you to take a bath in?
Miss: No, there's a table in there. They eat at the table.
Me: There is a table in your bath?
Miss: Yes. It is their house.
Me: Oh, your bath is their house?
Miss: Yes.
The hubby then entered in saying...it's a bath house.

Good ol' hubby making the dad jokes.

Psalms Sunday- Psalm 43

Good morning, today we are reading Psalm 43, which is actually a continuation of Psalm 42. It is a Psalm of lament and of trust.

Psalm 43
Prayer to God in Time of Trouble
1 Vindicate me, O God,
And plead my cause against an ungodly nation;
Oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!
2 For You are the God of my strength;
Why do You cast me off?
Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

3 Oh, send out Your light and Your truth!
Let them lead me;
Let them bring me to Your holy hill
And to Your tabernacle.
4 Then I will go to the altar of God,
To God my exceeding joy;
And on the harp I will praise You,
O God, my God.

5 Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

I love verse three, "Oh send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me." We should pray that every morning. We need His light and we need His truth, especially during difficult times when our friends in the world and the enemy are trying to bring us down. Or when we catch ourselves lost in our own thought processes of what if. We need His light and His truth and we need to have it lead us. We need to let go and follow Him.

The Lord will not stand by and watch His children trampled on forever… and as confident as I am that the sun will rise in the morning, so is my confidence that He will shine His light on your circumstance, whatever it may be. - Darlene Zschech

Have a wonderful Sunday and I will see you again next week, for Psalm 44.

Friday's Happy News

So, I don't know about you, but I don't like watching the news or reading the news, because it usually depresses me. Like today, for instance, I heard about an 11 month old baby who was beaten to death by a 9 year old boy while attending an in home day care. How does that happen?
So, I've decided that each Friday, I will share a Happy News story, courtesy of HappyNews.Com
So, Here's Today's Story

"By Associated Press
Updated: 8/27/2007

NEW YORK

An 8-month-old boy received five organs in a complex transplant for a rare gastrointestinal disease and is ready for the next step — learning to eat, his doctors said Friday.

Elijah Moulton is doing well after receiving a liver, small bowel, pancreas, colon and stomach during the seven-hour procedure July 10 at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian, doctors said.

He was born with total intestinal atresia, a malformation of the entire gastrointestinal tract that makes eating impossible.

Dr. Mercedes Martinez said at a news conference Friday that the boy would probably be moved to a rehab center on Monday, where he will spend as many as six weeks learning to eat. His release was delayed a few days because he was having difficulty breathing.

''He's doing so well right now,'' Martinez said. ''He's gorgeous. He's looking around and smiling.''

Organ rejection and infection were the biggest complications the baby faced during the first six to 10 weeks after surgery, she said.

The organs came from one donor, and all were kept together as one unit, with connections intact, the hospital said.

The head surgeon, Dr. Dominique Jan, performed the world's first successful intestinal transplant in 1991, involving two organs. As many as seven organs can safely be transplanted at the same time, he said.

''By transplanting several organs at once, we can give children with serious intestinal malformations or infections hope for a healthy future,'' he said.

Elijah's parents, Heather and Brad Moulton, live in Lewis, several hours north of New York City. He has a brother and sister, ages 5 and 3."

Thankful Thursday

Wow, you guys, it's been a great week so far. The day care kids have been a lot mellower, the week has been going fast and we have a three day weekend coming up.

I am thankful today for such a variety of things:
- Subway Subs, which have been my craving this pregnancy...and they are soooo good.
- Caffeine free Pepsi, another treat.
- My friend, Andrea, who sent me a box of Fairytale Brownies as a special treat because she knew I had had a tough month or so. And oh my goodness they are SOOO YUMMY!
- Tuesday's In Other Words quote that really, really spoke to me.
- Getting to learn today about the humanitarian crisis in Burma as well as about nobel peace prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi, whose efforts for peace have been thwarted due to the military regime keeping her imprisoned. Want to know about Burma?
I will write a blog post about it soon.
- Keeping in touch with Invisible Children people, has given me another opportunity to help out. The Mountain West Road Crew team that I helped plan a screening for last year, is on the road again beginning this September. They drive around in a van and this time they are coming out for their schools to schools program. They will be speaking to many schools in the area and rely on people like me for a place to stay, shower, eat. They will be here the last weekend in September, and I have offered my home for them. My couch pulls out into a sleeper. All I need to do is find an inexpensive sofa sleeper mattress if I can. There are two 20 something girls and a 20 something guy, who was on the team last year. So the gals can have the bed. And the guy can sleep anywhere right? That's what guys do. SO, I am so thankful to get to help out again. Because I am so passionate about Invisible Children and all of their efforts.
- And focusing on the condition in places like Uganda and Burma make me realize how truly blessed I am to live where I do...to have a home, to have three meals a day, to have medicine, to have a car, to for the most part, compared to their lives, have safety. I am so thankful.
- I am also thankful for all of those who have been praying for me and the hubby and the job situation. I know God has something wonderful in store and your prayers are such a blessing.

Happy Thursday Everyone.

In Other Words

"Under the banner of God, victory is always assured; but apart from it, defeat is a certainty. When the banner of God's rod was not held high, Amalek prevailed.
You can't do battle against the flesh under your own power."

~ Kay Arthur ~
Lord, I Want to Know

In the Ladies Bible study that I was blessed enough to attend on various Thursday evenings, we did a study on the names of God.
One of the names of God, is YHWH Nissi, which means Lord my Banner.

I found my old study guide sheet for that name of God and wanted to share some of it with you. Please note: I am paraphrasing my study guide, but these are not my words. The study sheet was written by Sharon, my Bible study leader. I also realized once I was finished, that this is very long. I apologize, but I think it's worth the read! ;o)

The Israelites had started on their journey, but they were thirsty and found that there was no water to drink. They became frustrated and irritated and began to quarrel with Moses and said, "Is God with us or not?"
God wasn't angered by this. He knew that they had a lot to learn. But God proved His presence and provision, by having Moses strike a rock allowing water to gush forth.

After that, the Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands."

So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered and Moses, Aaron & Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but when ever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. Then Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone & put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron & Hur held his hands up-one on one side, one on the other-so that Moses' hands remained steady till the sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven."

Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner. He said, "For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD." Ex:17:8-16

There are two words translated banner in the OT. This one –Nes- is the most significant of the two. It literally means that which shines or that which is lifted up. The nes was a banner raised on special occasion and always on some elevated place or object used as a rallying point to call the whole people together to hear some vital message or to assemble for some important action.

Moses named the altar of thanksgiving, after the defeat of Amalek, YHWH Nissi. The altar was a memorial that YHWH enabled HIS people against their foes. Therefore announcing that the LORD HIMSELF is the rallying point for HIS people and thereby kindle hope and effort in difficult/impossible situations.

The battle and the altar announced that GOD HIMSELF is the banner/ that point to look to for enablement and deliverance. Since the battle with Amelek directly follows YHWH's giving them water from a rock we see GOD bring the point home by repetition. When a need arises reach out to GOD for supply, enablement and protection.

But it wasn't long after the battle that was won, that the Israelites became discouraged again. They were hungry and thirsty. They spoke against GOD and against Moses and said, "Why have YOU brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is not bread and there is no water! And we detest this miserable food."

Then the LORD sent venomous snakes among them and they bit the people and many Israelites died. The people came to Moses and said, "We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us." So Moses prayed for the people. And the LORD told him to put a snake on a nes and lift the nes up in the sight of the people so when they were bit they could choose to look at it. If they had been bitten and then looked to it they would healed and not die of the bite.

Here we think of judgment but do you see that the LORD in great love/ yes, I said love - sent more on top of their present heavy struggles for the purpose that they come to the end of themselves and cry out (reach out Act 17:26,27) to GOD their NES! The rally point/ their source of supply

You may ask how I can say it was love, not damning judgment. What GOD told Moses to do proves GOD's motive of love. GOD told Moses to make a snake and put it up on a NES (lift up the NES in the sight of the people) Anyone who is bitten can look at it and live..

If one would only choose to believe looking would help & look at the snake they would be healed. But that would take faith for it sounds ridiculous! (But GOD loves to use foolish things to confound the wise and asks that we walk by faith)

GOD says that these things happened for our learning (I Cor 10:6,11) For GOD was painting another picture. JESUS explains that picture in Jn 3:14, 15 "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert so I must be lifted up that everyone that believes in ME may have eternal life.

When we focus on the difficulties/ problems / our now situation we have taken our eyes off JESUS. HE is our Shepherd and without HIM we get lost real quick. HE calls but we don't often listen. HE must keep us close to protect us from all the dangers in the world therefore we must learn to focus on HIM. Lam 3 speaks loudly on the subject of what happens when we refuse to do this & I suggest that sometime you prayerfully read through.

Lamentations 3:39-41
39 Why should a living man complain,
A man for the punishment of his sins?
40 Let us search out and examine our ways,
And turn back to the LORD;
41 Let us lift our hearts and hands
To God in heaven.

LIFT UP YOUR HANDS! LIFT UP YOUR HEARTS TO THE LORD, OUR BANNER!

Side note: I really needed this study today. My hubby and I are dealing with some stuff right now...mainly worry wanting to sneak in and discourage us. We are job searching and it has been rough. This was JUST WHAT I NEEDED today. Thank you Loni for today's quote! God Bless you!

My Weekend

On Saturday night, we took the kids to a shopping center up north a bit that has been hosting family fun nights for the past 9 weeks. Too bad we just found out about it on its last night. It was pretty neat. There was a free bouncy slide, free cotton candy, free balloons and face painting and then a free movie that they showed outside on a big screen. Saturday night's movie was Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and we didn't think it would keep the miss' attention, so we didn't stay for the movie. But in the past weeks, they showed various animated movies, so that would have been fun.
We weren't there for very long because we got there close to closing time, but the miss still had a blast. The mister enjoyed it too. He loved kicking his little feet in the umbrella stroller and watching everyone. He is a people watcher like his mommy.

Here's the miss hugging Maggie Moo

We didn't get to stay for long, because we got there late and the miss was NOT ready to go back home. She asked to go into a store, so we hit up Pottery Barn Kids. She loooooved the store. She enjoyed playing with some of the toys and puzzles that they had out. And the mister fell in love with a really neat rocking horse. HE LOVED IT! Too bad it's $100...Are you kidding?!?!?!?

Let's see, what else?!?!
Oh, I successfully made some curtains for the miss' room. It was my first attempt at curtains, and I think it went well. There will be a picture at some point, once her room is presentable.

Oh and the miss has a favorite dress of the moment.

She loves it! Oh and that's her Cenquin that she is holding. Yes, a cenguin, which she says starts with a puh puh P, Cenguin. :o)

Psalms Sunday - Psalm 42

Good morning -
I am sorry that this didn't post last night. I know we are in different time zones and I like for this post to be here when you wake up and look for it. Hopefully you didn't wait too long.

So, today we are starting Psalms Sunday with Psalm 42. This Psalm begins the second book of the Psalms, which ends with Psalm 72. They are the Psalms about the redemption of God. And this Psalm was written by Hezekiah for the sons of Korah. You can learn more about Korah and his sons in Numbers 16.

Here is the Psalm:

1 As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?[b]
3 My tears have been my food day and night,
While they continually say to me,
“Where is your God?”

4 When I remember these things,
I pour out my soul within me.
For I used to go with the multitude;
I went with them to the house of God,
With the voice of joy and praise,
With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast.

5 Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him
For the help of His countenance.[c]

6 O my God,[d] my soul is cast down within me;
Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan,
And from the heights of Hermon,
From the Hill Mizar.
7 Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls;
All Your waves and billows have gone over me.
8 The LORD will command His loving kindness in the daytime,
And in the night His song shall be with me—
A prayer to the God of my life.

9 I will say to God my Rock,
“Why have You forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”
10 As with a breaking of my bones,
My enemies reproach me,
While they say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”

11 Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

I must say, I love the first two verses of this Psalm, because they are from one of my favorite worship songs. "As the deer panteth for the water, So my soul longeth after Thee. You alone are my heart's desire And I long to worship Thee. You alone are my strength my shield, to you alone may my spirit yield......." I almost recorded myself singing it for you, because I just love it THAT much. But, I didn't.

Lately, I believe that I have been feeling like this Psalm. I had spent a month or so, so busy that I wasn't leaving time for God. And I can feel that distance and it hurts, it really does. I have witnessed how it has affected my moods, my patience, my relationships. It seemed like I would become saddened more easily. I longed to go back to that time when I was so close to Him. When I would talk to Him many times throughout the day. I longed to go back to when I had quiet time with Him several times a day. When you have periods of time in your life when your relationship with God is a huge focus and then you go through some time where there is a big distance between yourself and God, it is so apparent.

I am slowly starting to get back to a place where I am closer to God. I am trying to discipline myself to have time in the Word, to make it a point to attend church every Sunday. To watch what things I do and look at, that could be taking away from my walk.

I have missed that closeness with God.

When I read over some interpretations of this Psalm, I found a gal who spoke about how Hezekiah uses the word thirst, not hunger. When he says, my soul thirsts for you.
When you are thirsty, you need to quench it right away. You want something to drink and you want it NOW. You need it. It is hard to be parched. I think that is different than hunger. With hunger, even when we have hunger pains, we can kind of still go a bit without satisfying them, if we need to. I think that's how it is when we start distancing ourselves from God. We can feel the hunger pains, but we are busy with what we are doing, and we distract ourselves. But finally that distance brings us to a point of extreme thirst. We need to stop what we are doing, and we need to drink. We need our God right NOW. There is no more waiting...no more distractions.

Lord, my soul is thirsting for you. Come and fill me.

"You alone are my heart's desire and I LONG to worship you."

THE RETURN OF PSALMS SUNDAY

I have been missing this. And in my walk, I need this. So, this Sunday, August 26th, Psalms Sunday will return with Psalm 42.

If you are new to Psalms Sunday this is how it works:
Each Sunday there will be a new Psalm to read and discuss. For now, we will go in order and not skip around, beginning with Psalm 42.

If you participate, all I ask is that you share what the Psalm meant to you. Maybe there was a verse or two that spoke to you. Maybe the Psalm made you think of a story you would like to share with us. Maybe you would like to paraphrase the Psalm. Or maybe you would like to do an in-depth word study. What you write, what you share is up to you.

Write your post on Sunday and sign the Mister Linky. Try to visit all the participants if you can, so that together we can share and discuss the Word.

So I will see you here on Sunday, August 26th, when we read and discuss Psalm 42.

Does it load faster?

So, my blog takes forever to load on my computer...the picture and right sidebar take an eternity. And just today, I was told by 2 different people, that my blog freezes their computer. So I took out one thing off of my right sidebar and edited the scripting for the header image to speed up the load process. I think it worked. :o)

I am going to bed now. But stay tuned for a PSALMS SUNDAY announcement tomorrow. :o)Well, I guess that may be later today, since this is posting at midnight.

If you bank with Wells Fargo....Please note:

Okay, so I deposited $500 in the atm yesterday early morning. It hasn't posted to my account yet, so I just called Wells Fargo and held for an eternity.
It turns out that it is a nationwide problem. Tons and tons of ATM deposits are not posting to people's accounts, and they don't have any record of it. And the only thing they are doing, is investigating it, which could take up to 10 days before they credit my account, even temporarily.
I also deposited around $500 yesterday afternoon with a drive-thru teller, and that posted.
So, if you have deposits to make, DON'T DO IT IN THE ATM and if you did make a deposit via an atm over the past couple of days, CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT.
I am so frustrated over this right now, because I budgeted with that $500 in there, and now it isn't....and now my account is going to be all messed up!

I've Always Been a Chevy Fan Until Today

So, I love Chevy, I do. But tonight, we had a flat tire. Thank goodness the car was parked at home. Thank goodness we weren't on the side of the freeway with both kids in the vehicle. Because, chevy placed all the stuff for our jack, under the back seats. So, we had to remove both car seats to get to them. I mean, it's not like we don't have a huge back area...plenty of "trunk" space. And it's not like the jack is HUGE. But for some reason, they thought it was smart to place it under the back seats.
THAT was thought up by a man, I tell ya.
Anyway, we got it changed, which was an experience, because between the noth of us (hubby, me), neither one of us had tire changing experience. LOL!
So, the hubby is now on his way to the store to get new tires. We needed new ones anyway.

Tiny Baby Flip Flops

The miss, my almost four year old daughter, is obsessed with flip flops. I think it's because I pretty much wear them all the time. And one day we were at the store and she told me that she wanted flip flops like mommy. So she has a couple pairs of flip flops.
Last night, we were talking about the baby. I asked her if she wanted to watch the baby come out of my tummy when it was time. And her face lit up and she shouted, "yes".
She then mentioned that Kate, my best friend and photographer, would be here and would take pictures of the baby. I was impressed that she remembered that Kate was here when I delivered my son. But I guess she can't forget that Kate takes pictures, since everytime she visits, she takes tons of pictures of my family.
She then mentioned that the baby will have tiny baby feet and tiny toes and that "she'll", she is determined that I am having a girl, wear tiny baby flip flops.
Yep, she wants us to buy the baby flip flops to wear after being born.

Okay, Let's Go In Reverse

So, I had an ultrasound today to determine how far along I really am. With this pregnancy, it's been weird. My periods were very irregular. The last period I had was at the very end of May, but then I bled again two weeks later. And then I didn't have another period after that. So, when I found out I was pregnant, and they asked me the first day of my last menstrual period, I said the one in May. I thought the bleeding in June was breakthrough bleeding from the pill I was on, but not taking well.
But when we did the ultrasound, which was done internally, it became apparent that the baby was not 12 weeks along. And the 3 times we measured it, it came out the same...8weeks 4 days.

So turns out I am not almost 12 weeks along, as I thought, I am only 8 weeks along. Crazy huh?
The baby is due on March 26th.
So, why do I have a belly already?

Friday, August 17

Finally Friday

It's finally Friday. It was a busy week. I finished up my Photoshop class and started another one. I have 4 chapters to read over the next 2 days and an assignment due today and tomorrow, but I am so excited, because I am going to learn flash and dreamweaver and some more web design stuff. YAY!

Oh, and last night, I finished my third blog design for Kristen at Diary of a Shoe Addict. So you'll have to check it out.

And I have started on my next one, which I know I will have so much fun with.

I have an extra day care kid well...just today, yesterday and next week. It is the older sister of the 4 year old I watch. I believe she is 6 or 7. I was worried that it would be harder, because she doesn't nap...and bickers with her younger brother. But actually, she has been making things around here easier. For instance, right now, she is in my daughter's bedroom...helping her clean it up. She saw how messy it was, told the miss that she should keep her room clean and got her to start picking it up with her. She is also good at helping me keep an eye on the kids when I run to the bathroom or something. Maybe I should hire her. LOL

Well, that's it for now. Nap time is officially over. All the kids are awake, so my break has ended.

Hopefully now that my horribly time consuming Photoshop class is over, I will be able to blog everyday now, like I used to. I really have missed it. I hope all of you have a wonderful FRIDAY!

Wednesday, August 15

So Tired

Phew, I am finally done. I just now, at 10:35 P.M., turned in my last assignment for my Photoshop class. It was such a time consuming class. This is the first class I have taken so far in my program that really wore me out. But, I also have a lot going on right now and I am still feeling my 1st trimester fatigue.

Poor Kristen, a blog design customer, has been having to deal with a servicer who has been very late in getting things done. I promise Kristen, if you are reading this, I will be emailing you your design tomorrow.

I unfortunately don't have a break from classes. My next class, which is advanced web scripting, including java and dreamweaver, starts tomorrow. And, I never bought my textbook. It completely slipped my mind. That is so not like me. But again, there has been so much going on right now. My hubby separates from the Air Force in September, so we've been dealing with going back and forth between should we move, should we stay. We've been searching job ads. I've been looking into short term insurance for us, since once he leaves the Air Force, we will no longer have benefits. So, it's been a crazy time.

Tonight, my midwife came out for an hour or so to meet with me and the hubby. She answered a lot of questions, gave me a wealth of information and made me excited to have my child at home. I had my first two in the hospital.

With my oldest, an almost 4 year old girl, the miss, everything that could possibly go wrong in a labor went wrong. First of all, we were military at the time and for each appointment, I had a different doctor, so that I could meet them all...because it wasn't certain who would be the one on call when I had the baby. So that was weird. It was like at each appointment, I had to go over stuff that I previously went over, but was new to them. I was induced, because she was late. I had wanted to do it naturally, but the pitocin just made everything so hard. By 6 or 7, I got an epidural. I had forceps used in my delivery and it was all so rushed. The communication with the doctors and nurses was horrible. They kind of demanded what needed to be done, without really talking about it with us or explaining it. In a way, it was kinda scary. I bled a lot, I had a 3rd degree tear. And, I ended up having a spinal headache because the epidural was administered incorrectly. They punctured a hole in my spinal area, so fluid was leaking out and it was the WORST headache known to man. So then I had to come back to the hospital to take care of that. I also ended up with a horrible kidney infection as well.

Fast forward to the mister's birth. He is the little guy who just turned one last month. He was born in a different state, but still military. At the military hospital where I had my appointments and birth, they did have midwives on staff. I fell in love with and saw one of them for a few appointments, but then she went away, either on deployment or vacation and I never saw her again.
I was 4 days late with the mister. My water broke, gushed, at home at around 11:30 or so. When I got to the hospital, the doctor there, to deliver the baby, was some guy who I had never met before. That was kinda weird. My nurse was wonderful though. My contractions were intense. They were right on top of each other, with no break. And I had back labor as well. I was in a lot of pain. Thankfully, from my Bradley classes with my first, I understood where in labor I was. I could tell when I was in transition. I got to the hospital at around midnight and had the mister 3 hours later. I knew I was progressing quickly, but when I told the nurses, I got the impression that they didn't believe me. But then they checked me and realized that I wasn't lying. I had an epidural, which I must admit I was afraid of, because of the experience I had with the miss. But, I was in pain. It never worked in time and I felt all of my contractions. It did numb me for the actual pushing and delivery however.

Since this is my 3rd baby and I am having it close to the mister. I am confident that my body will know what to do and remember and that it will go pretty quickly. I know that I can handle labor without meds, but will definitely need help with relaxation and different positions, which I will have the luxury of having. I did tear with the mister as well. And I talked to the midwife about that as well. She said that if I do a water birth and or get into a different position to deliver, that I should greatly reduce my risk of tearing. In the hospital, I would never be allowed to deliver in a different position.

Having births at home is safe. My midwife is certified and has done 179 births since being a midwife. However, she had to apprentice, assist and train for many years. So she has been involved in hundreds more. She has only had to call 911 3 times. Once for a baby who just had severe respiratory problems. One for a mom who was hemorrhaging while delivering a placenta and once for a mom who had a baby wanting to come out feet first.

Safety, mine and the baby's, is her number one priority. She is very well trained. She has to be.

It will be nice to be at home, in the comfort at home, with a midwife who knows me...with the same midwife who has done all of my prenatal care. With the midwife who will assist me with positioning and things to help ease my pain. Who will allow things to progress naturally. Who will not be so eager to grab the forceps.

A lot of the time, hospitals rush it and rush it. Our bodies were designed to give birth in a natural way...progressing naturally. Sometimes, when too much focus is put on how quickly we progress or administering pitocin to speed things along, the body is taken out of its natural course. And then problems arise. And too many c-sections happen....Really.

I know I have some concerned friends who feel that a hospital is safer. But if I am low risk and healthy, there really is no difference...unless there was a life or death or real serious incident. In which case, I could be at the hospital in 3 minutes with an ambulance here in 45 seconds. But I won't be needing that. I'll be fine.

Okay, I am done rambling. I really need some rest.

Pictures As Promised

I promised GG some pictures. And I was supposed to bring the camera with me to the ice cream shoppe, where we took the kids as a special treat for the miss..that she earned. But, I forgot the camera. So, when we got home I took some pictures. The kids were antsy though, so I was surprised that they came out as well as they did.
So, here you go.....

We didn't do it!!!! We're Innocent

My Celebrity Look Alikes

Happy Friday

It's Friday!!! And I am sooooo happy about that! Today is my 5th wedding anniversary. And I think we have only been able to celebrate..one, maybe two, anniversaries together, because he always seemed to be sent somewhere around our anniversary. Last year, I was in Arizona visiting family, while he was away at some class for the month of August. So, tonight we are going to try to go out to eat, with the kids in tow, because I forgot to try to find a sitter. We are hoping that with tons of snacks for the mister and bribing with the miss, that it will be an enjoyable dinner. Then, we will rent a movie, put the kids to bed and cuddle on the couch.

I just hope I won't be tired tonight. I am going to try to stay relaxed, upbeat and fed today, so that I can keep my energy for tonight.

And tomorrow, the hubby is going to take the miss to her gymnastics class for me and bring the mister along too, and he has ordered me to sleep. So, I will take him up on that offer, definitely!

So, the miss is so excited about the pregnancy. She was only two years old when I was pregnant with the mister and I don't think she really understood. But now, she knows that there is a baby in mommy's tummy. I have a little magazine type thing that shows pictures of the fetus from conception to birth, and she has been asking to look at it over and over again. By looking at it, she gets to see images of the baby at each month of the pregnancy. And yesterday, I was laying down and she came over to me and put her hand on my belly. I bet she'll love it once she can start feeling the baby kick and stuff. She does refer to the baby as..."she". The miss is determined that I will be having another girl. Anyway, I think it's going to be very fun going through the pregnancy and watching her excitement at each stage.

The Army post out here, where I will go for my OB care and to have the baby, has a Big Brothers/Big Sisters class for ages 4 and up. So, she'll be 4 in a few months and I am thinking I will take her to the class at some point before the baby comes. It is on a Saturday for a couple of hours. They go over things like, how to hold a baby...and how to help mommy out. And at the end they get a little certificate. I think she'll love it.

Well, that's it for updates for now. I have a huge final project due tomorrow for my Photoshop class and I am working on a blog design as well. So, I am a busy bee on top of my horrid 1st trimester fatigue that seems lately to be sucking out my motivation to get things done around the house...including stuff for my class and what not. But, a few more weeks, and I will be in the 2nd trimester and life will be grand.

Have a great Friday!!!

Thankful Thursday

So much to be thankful for:

I am thankful for my hubby. I don't think I tell him enough either. Last Friday, I was having a rough day with the day care kids. Somedays I think I am running a zoo and not a daycare. When he got off work, he made a special trip to the store to bring me home a dozen purple roses, my favorite. When he gave them to me, he told me that he wanted me to know how much he appreciated all that I do and that he felt he didn't tell me enough. And he also wanted to help make my day a little brighter. And since I've been tired lately, since I am in my first trimester, he has been helping a lot in the evenings...cooking dinner or playing with the kids. It's been so nice.

I am thankful for my little mister's smiles. They just melt my heart. He is so happy and always smiling and giggling. Sometimes, on the tough days, just getting one of his smiles or sloppy kisses, is all I need to get me out of a grumpy mood.

I am thankful for my daughter's energy. Although, it's tough somedays to keep up with her, she just has this energy and excitement about her. She brings so much fun and so much laughter. I love it!

I am thankful that my cramping has subsided. At the beginning of the week, for 2 days, I was having some painful cramping, that had started to worry me, but since then, it has gone away. I can't wait for my first doctor's appointment so that I can hear the heartbeat and know that the little life inside me is doing well.

I am thankful for Vita-T. It is the Iced Tea vitamin water. I am not a big water fan, but I love this stuff. It's water, vitamins and tea all in one. And I think it is mighty yummy.

I am thankful for the cooler days we have had lately....and for the rain. I love the rain, and our dead grass has needed it badly.

I am thankful for my best friend, my Kate. She was out here visitng last week, and we were able to spend a little bit of time together. We have also been trying to keep in touch more, and it's been wonderful. We've had some great conversations. I am so thankful for her.

And last, but most importantly, I am thankful for all the ways God has been shouting at me lately. Over the past month or so, He's been kinda on the back burner. I've just had so much taking up my time, and I wasn't making the time for Him like I should have been. And so He's been showing Himself in many ways. And I love that He does that. Even when I distance myself, I can still feel Him and hear Him. I know how much He longs to spend time with me. And I love that about Him. He seeks me. He calls after me. And He does it with love and gentleness. I am so thankful for my God.

So Blessed

So, I took some time to blog surf today. I visited Amanda's blog, and came across a video that not only made me teary eyed....but reminded me just how truly blessed I am. You see, I am apparently very fertile. I have had two kids already, and am 9 weeks pregnant with my third. And I feel guilty now, for feeling a bit worried, overwhelmed and maybe not as joyous as I should have been, after finding out last week that I was pregnant.

I know that there are so many people out there who want to have a child...who have been trying and trying to have a child.....who have been spending so much money to try to have a child.

I am so blessed. And of course I know that, but after watching this, it just kinda made me realize it even more.

Here's the video:

Saturday Bike Ride

My titles are so original, aren't they?
Yesterday, we took the miss out on her bike for the first time. She was so excited. I went out with her first. I knelt on the ground and sort of crawled for a bit, while pushing her at the same time and moving her feet so that she was pedaling, to try to get her to grasp the concept of pedaling. But she just wasn't going to get it. So, I pushed her around the block. She was really good, however at putting on the brakes, which she did as I pushed her uphill. It was great!
So, I decided to see if hubby wanted to give it a try. Maybe he could explain pedaling to her better than I did. But no such luck. He did push her a lot faster around the block though, which she loved.
Here are some pics....

A Conversation With a Five Year Old

Yesterday, the day care kids were talking about how they wanted to grow up so that they could be bosses. I told them that they should enjoy being kids, and that being a kid is fun. I then told them that I wished I could be a kid again.

That started the following conversation:

E - But Miss Erica, you are a grown up that means you can fly a plane.

Me - True, adults can fly a plane, but I can't. I don't know how to. I would have to go to school and learn how to. And I just don't have the time.

E- Well, I am sure that my daddy could come here and watch all the kids, so that you can learn how to fly a plane.

Me- You think your daddy would do that, eh?

E- Yep, but he'd have to ask my mommy first, because she's the boss!

The Music Of My Life

It's Meme Time

So, we all have them, meaningful songs that take us back in time, to different parts of our lives. Let's share some of those songs, shall we.

1. Name a song or songs that remind you of your young childhood...up until age 7:

I have many that fit into this category, so this may take awhile. Most songs that come back to me and bring me back to this time in my life are, all the songs on the Anne Murray children's album, mainly Inchworm and her version of You Are My Sunshine. The album was released onto cd after the miss was born and I bought it for her.

Don Mclean's, American Pie, was also a favorite during this time. My dad and I would belt it out as we drove around in the car.

The Flashdance soundtrack also was a big thing during that time. My mom listened to it a lot, and we'd put on our leg warmers and dance and sing.

I also remember some song that went..."and you and me are free to be you and me." I think it was from a movie or tv special.

2. Okay, what songs bring you back to Junior High?

In Junior High, I was introduced to Amy Grant. So, I'd have to say her song, Baby, Baby reminds me most of Junior High. Not to mention my friend, Amy, has a video of me doing a music video to the song and I also sang it in one of those studios at some carnival where they record it for you. So, that was THE song for me then.

Oh, and I can't forget the famous, Rhythm of Life song, that we sang in the Phoenix Girl's Chorus.

Oh and in the 8th grade musical production I sang a duet with Chris Wo to A Whole New World.

3. Break down all 4 years of high school with songs.

Freshman Year -

The Turkey Song from Saturday Night Live was a biggie.

At the end of the year, my song was, Remember Me This Way, from the movie Casper. It was one of Kate and I's songs from when she was moving away.

I also remember loving Expose's..I'll Never Get Over You.

Oh, Oh, and Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmmmm by Crash Test Dummies and Loser by Beck, always put me in the cafeteria with Kate and Travis, each time I hear them.

Sophomore Year

Lisa Loeb's, Stay, was a big hit that year. I loooooved that song!

Everybody Hurts by REM also comes to mind, because it was played over and over again from the jukebox in our cafeteria after 4 students died in a car crash during that year.

Junior Year

I hear any song from Jagged Little Pill, and I think of Kress in his volkswagon bug. Excpet maybe that was Sophomore year, now I am confused.

I was also introduced to Garth Brooks my Junior year thanks to a boy I dated from North Carolina. Really, before then, I hadn't heard much of his stuff. I became an instant fan. So, his songs take me back to that year.

Senior Year

I have a ton of songs that remind me of Senior Year. The first is, The Macarena. And only because in Danceline, we were stuck doing the dang Macarena over and over and over again.

Rockin' Me Baby also brings me back to dancing with the band.

Then of course, Steve and I have a ton of songs that bring me back to our first 6 months of dating during the end of my Senior Year. Basically all of the Reel Big Fish songs from the Turn the Radio Off cd. Then of course, there's Letters To Cleo, Wholesale Meats and Fish, I would walk 500 miles., The song from Jerry maguire, Secret Garden. Oh and I Love You Always Forever, Donna Lewis.

Also, No Doubt songs and Jewel's songs bring me back to 1997.

4. Songs from College

Well, I didn't attend college traditionally. In fact, I am still in school, but I did go away to Huntington from 2001-2002. And I'd have to say, anything from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, places me back laying on blankets on the grass outside of our residence hall with Charity and Dave, listening to the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.

Oh and I was introduced to Sara Groves that year, and I love her. So her Conversations cd places me back in the HUB watching her concert. It ws great!

5. Your Wedding Songs

Come What May, from Moulin Rouge, was our first dance.

Of course, Canon in D and Jesu Joy were part of the Ceremony.

I Will be Here by Steven Curtis Chapman

and From This Moment on is what I sang to Steve.

6. Songs From Holidays

I love Candlelight Carol. I was first introduced to it in the Phoenix Girl's Chorus, but then I found it on a Neil Diamond Christmas album. I love it.

Every Christmas, when I attended Hillside, I sang Breath of Heaven. So, everytime I hear that song, I am brought back to the church and to all of my friends in the pews. I loved singing that song.

And basically Christmas carols remind me of the little Victorian choir I was in and we'd go around caroling throught the holiday season. It was fun.

Okay I tag whoever would like to do this as well as Tiffany, because she loves these things.
Oh, and I made this meme up. :o)

Drainy May

Well, I definitely know I am pregnant. It is apparent in how horribly tired I am. I know my friend, Tiff, knows a supplement I can take to help me with that. Please comment me.
If I knew I was going to be pregnant, I don't know if I'd be taking a class right now. But, at the same time, I am glad I am, because in a little less than a year, hopefully I can be doing web design from home to make an income. We'll see. I still have lots more to learn.
Last night, after dinner, I hit the couch and fell right to sleep. I slept until 11:00 P.M. The hubby put the kids to bed and everything. When I woke up at 11:00, I remembered that I had a homework assignment due. It was discussion questions, so I thought it wouldn't take too long. I had lots of reading to do first. But then I realized we had another assignment as well, which was an image creation in photoshop. I started it, but by that time it was midnight, and I just couldn't focus. So, I only turned in half of my assignment. I feel bad, because I know I am not giving my classes 100%. But, really, with all that is on my plate, I just can't. And the point of these classes, is for me to learn web design, photoshop and all that jazz. And I am learning. I am sure my professor thinks I am the biggest slacker. Oh well. I have an 80% in the class at the moment, but there are only 2.5 weeks left. So, hopefully I can start devoting a little more time to it. I did waste nap time yesterday. I surfed the net and watched a tv show also. I should have been doing my homework. But, I had such a stressful morning, I just wanted to veg. I had no idea that I would crash all night like I did.

Tiffany called me yesterday to have me pray for her and how she's been handling discipline with her son. While talking we realized we are both struggling with our oldest kids right now. They are both just pushing our buttons so horribly. And Tiff and I both felt like we were failing. We were getting too angry too easily and we needed to change our manner and methods. So I prayed for us, and I think I really needed it.

Oh, how I really need to make it a point to pray in the mornings, to do devotions in the mornings. I just know it would help me so much. This morning, I had to get up early to run to the grocery store. I was going to get a few needed items last night. But, well, like I said, I slept instead. But it felt so good to get some rest.

4 more weeks to go and then I'll be in the 2nd trimester and hopefully will have some of my energy back.

Sure Was a Crazy Saturday

Well, folks, what a weekend. Well, really, what a Saturday. On Saturday afternoon, I took a home pregnancy test, because I am pretty late. But ever since having my second child a year ago, my periods have yet to be regular, so I didn't think too too much about it. Or maybe I just ignored the hmmm..I could be pregnant symptoms, because I didn't want to be pregnant. Anyway, I took the test and waited for the negative result that I wanted. But the darn test just laughed at me, as it showed me a plus. Plus meaning pregnant. I did the calculations, from the date of my last period. And I am actually 8 weeks pregnant. 8 WEEKS?!?!!?! Can you believe it? I am still in shock myself. We weren't trying to get pregnant, and I was using birth control, not just well..apparantly.
So, we are excited, but at the same time worried. I mean, we need a bigger vehicle...we are possibly going to try to move back home now...so, well it's definitely a life change. But it is such a blessing, isn't it?!?!?!

Then Saturday night was crazy too.
The paramedics came to our house Saturday night. It was pretty crazy.

First some background info:

The miss took a small bite of a chocolate chip pecan cookie several months ago and cried that it hurt her tongue. I thought maybe she bit her tongue or something.

In Arizona, the miss had a bite of a Mexican Wedding Cookie and was immediately in tears that it was hurting her tongue. We believe it had walnuts in it.

Saturday night, I gave the miss a huge pecan that was in a salad I was eating. She had a big bite of it, and her whole demeanor changed. She said that her tongue hurt and her tummy hurt and she walked upstairs and put herself to bed. She never voluntarliy goes to bed. I gave her some benadryl, becuase I remembered the other instances and figured she was having an allergic reaction. I started working on a homework assignment downstairs, and the hubby checked on her. She had a ton of saliva coming out of her mouth in bubbles and her pillow was drenched in saliva and mucous. We had her lay downstairs on the couch next to the computer, where I was working. She then started gagging, sat up and threw up. We googled allergic reactions, lol...because we had never had experience with them. She was having a moderate to severe reaction and there was a possiblility it could get worse, to where shock would occur....so we called 911.

She ended up being okay. I have determined that she is allergic to tree nuts...which includes..hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, almonds and so forth. Peanuts are legumes, so that is why she doesn't have a peanut allergy. Tree nuts, however, are found in many things, even sauces, so I'll have to read labels carefully. And, an allergy to tree nuts, puts you at a hugher risk for having anaphylactic shock.

So, she is going to the doctor today, so that I can get her an epi pen, because it was just too scary. And all she had was a bite.

So, was it a crazy Saturday, or what?

A Bit of Our Trip

Here are some pictures from our trip back to Arizona. The mister got to celebrate his birthday with friends and family, and it was so nice.

About what I wrote below..

I just read over my post below and realized that it sounded awfully whiney.
I mean all the stuff that is making me feel overwhelmed, is such small stuff in comparison to things so many others are going through, like deployments, disease...and what not. So, I am sorry for being whiney. I just needed to come on here and vent a bit.

I promise, happy-go-lucky Erica posts will follow from here on out.

Overwhelmed

Well, it's been awhile since I've blogged. We got back Sunday night from a week long trip back home to Arizona. I will post some pictures later this week.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed so far this week, but I guess that is normal when you come back from vacation.

My photoshop class started last week, and I am struggling in it. Most people in my class are graphic design students, which means they can draw. We were given a simple assignment, to make an ice cream cone using photoshop...either hand drawn or mouse drawn. And my ice cream cone looked like something a 3 year old did. I had to use the brushes to make it. I was going to turn it in, but then I looked at everyone else's assignments.
They went all out. Their cones were amazing, and were much more than cones. Our big project, is a huge ad campaign for an ice cream company, complete with logos, slogans, ads...things like that. So they all took their incredible work and then turned it into the beginning stages of an ad or a logo. The stuff was incredible. And it made my triangle with a half circle on top look pitiful.
I am feeling very out of my element. And I wish I could draw.

Want to see just how incredible my classmate's work was:

Now, don't even THINK you will see what I did. Just picture what your 3 year old would draw, it looked like that.

My next class, if I survive the photoshop class, is advanced scripting.

Also, we still don't have the padding for our carpet replaced downstairs, our back gate somehow broke while we were gone...a huge slat of wood, is just laying on the side of it....we came back from our trip to discover that ants are starting to take over our front room, and we still have an a/c problem.

We are headed to Home Depot now to resolve that issue. I am tired of it being 89 degrees in here all day long.

Okay, this is such a downer post, I am sorry. I am just sharing what is on my mind at the moment.

I will post another one soon about our trip...It will be a happier post and filled with fun pictures.

The Real Me

***<<<*WHAT?*>>>***

What is your biggest dream?
Honestly, my biggest dream, was to be a mother. And I have that. I have been blessed so much!

What is your biggest success thusfar?
Being a mom.

What is your ideal job?
My ideal job would be something that would bring happiness to others, spread the love of Christ and allow me to do something I love. So, I would LOVE to be a Christian recording artist. But there are so many other things I could also do, that would allow me to do the three things I listed.

What was the most important thing you learned from your parents?
To work hard.

What do you look for most in a friend?
I like them to have my same beliefs and values....be someone that I can talk to....someone who I can relate to...someone who will accept me.

What is your philosophy of life?
Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.
Mother Teresa

What's your biggest fear?
It's always been being attacked, killed, harmed by a psycho person..like who breaks and enters or something. And the fear has grown beyond me and to those same type of people hurting my children.

What's your biggest joy?
Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, how great is His love, His peace!!!!!

***<<<*HOW?*>>>***

How would YOU describe yourself in three words?
Empathetic, Generous, Loving

How would someone else describe you?
I would hope in the same way.

How do you measure beauty?
Beauty is from within....it is in the genuine smile...in the loving heart....in the warmth of a caring hug. It radiates from within and it also spreads. A person's true beauty can be seen by the beauty it brings to others.

How important is family to you?
Family is very, very important.

***<<<*DO YOU?*>>>***

Do you believe in regrets?
I believe that regrets exist. I believe that it is easy to get hung up on them. I also believe that they can be damaging. The past shouldn't be focused on. All you should do is learn from the past, grow from it...and see where all those choices we regret, brought us.

Do you believe in second chances? why or why not?
I believe that you can't truly forgive without giving a second chance.

Do you believe in love at first sight?
I believe in an attraction at first sight. But love is so much deeper than a glance.

Do you belive that true love lasts forever and conquers all?
I do think that love conquers all. Look at Jesus' love. I think that the love we have in our lives can conquer all, but it does take work.

***<<<*ARE YOU?*>>>***

Are you trustworthy? trusting? How do you show it?
I am very trusting, always have been. And I do think I am trustworthy, although I have struggled with gossip in the past...I am outgrowing that thankfully.

Are you independent? Or still dependent on someone?
I feel that I have always been independent. And sometimes I think I can be too independent in that I don't even let God have control. It's a real struggle for me.

Are you willing to change for someone else?
I am willing to work on things if I know that I am doing something that is hurting someone else. For example, if I react in a stressed out manner in a situation and someone who that effects asks me to work on it, then yes, I will change that. But I will not change my beliefs and things like that for someone else. I will not change the values and beliefs that are a part of who I am.

***<<<*IF?*>>>***

If you could leave one life lesson behind to the younger generations, what would it be?
To realize how much you have...and how little so many others have and to keep that in mind always and strive to make a difference in the world. Share the love of Christ. Show His love to all. And help the oppressed.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?
How controlling I can be....or I try to be...mainly with my hubby. I seem to back down around friends and what not...try to make everyone happy and accomodate them. But with my hubby, it's like I feel it's my way or no way. It's not nice.

If you could have anything in this world, what would it be? why?
The opportunity to go to Northern Uganda and help out. But I may still get to do that....my life isn't over yet.

If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?
I don't have a very strong relationship with anyone in my family from my parents down to my Aunts and Uncles. So, I would change that. I wish I knew them.....meaning knew who they are as people...what their life experiences have been..things like that.

If you had everything you've always wanted, would you be happy?
No..because sometimes the things we want...or think we want, don't bring happiness, but bring just the opposite. It's hard to remember that at times...especially when in the moment, we focus so much on what we want and how much better it will make our lives...or how much better we think it will make us. And oh how wrong we are. So, I say, I hope that I am able to have all the things God has for me to have, because He has my happiness in mind. He knows the desires of my heart. But he also knows my lustful desires as well. And I am better off without those lustful ones. So, I say God...give me the true desires of my heart....and I will be soooo happy.

Pictures

Well, here are some pictures from yesterday, as well as some that have been stuck on my camera for awhile.
Not many from last night really came out well.

About a month ago, the day care kids did a Green Eggs and Ham theme. So for lunch at the end of the week, we had green scrambled eggs. I can only serve eggs at lunchtime...not for breakfast...weird, huh? Here is the miss when I told her to make a gross face with her eggs. She actually did eat them all up.

While in chicago, I walked past this ad and told my photographer friend that it would make a silly picture. I jumped several times and it did get some attention of those walking by. They were looking at us like we were weirdos. And just so you know, I hate the socks I am wearing. I had to buy them in the hotel gift store...they were men's ankle socks and huge on me. We had to leave most of our luggage behind on the way to Chicago.

And here are some pics from yesterday, the 4th.

Ooooo's and Ahhh's

Well, we went to the Air Force Academy this year for fireworks. And it was only open to ID card holders, which we felt was nice and safe.
The miss was so excited to see fireworks this year and had been talking about it for days. Last year, they scared her, and she spent the entire time with her head buried in her daddy's arms.
But this year...she smiled brightly. She said, "WOW", over and over again. She loved them. The mister enjoyed them too. He watched them pretty intently and just smiled.
It was a fun night. I did take pictures, but I didn't have my picture card in the camera. And I had lost the USB connector that goes to my camera, weeks ago. So, I need the correct USB cord in order to access the pictures. And we purchased a 5 pack with all different sizes, and not a single one fit into the camera. But I am going to check Best Buy tomorrow. So, hopefully I can share the pictures soon.
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th.

De-humidify Yourself

Oh my! I went into the basement this morning to throw some clothes into the wash. I was smack dab in the middle of all the monstrous machines, which are down there to suck away all the moisture. And within 3 seconds, I felt all the moisture leave my face. It was the strangest feeling ever. What's worse however, is it depleted my contacts of all moisture. And so far, I haven't been able to rememdy the situation. I may have to take them out and have them soak for awhile. I used rewetting drops and everything. But my contacts feel as hard as rocks. I am dreading going back down there to put the clothes into the dryer. Ha! Maybe I could just sit them on the basement floor, they'd dry up in seconds.

The Last Three Days

So, I wanted to share with all ya'll what's gone on over the past few days..complete with pictures...so this may be a long post. It isn't all that exciting, but I know some of my family members will appreciate the story. Although, the pictures are minimal. I left my camera at home yesterday, which actually would have been THE day for pictures. Oops.

So, on Saturday, I threw my good friend, Tiffany, a baby shower for baby #4. And, it was a successful surprise shower. YAY! I am an Usborne book consultant, and I told her I was having an open house. So, she came with her Usborne catalog in hand, ready to order some books. And she was so clueless...even when some guests arrived after her with presents in their hands. I even handed her a drink in a cup with a baby on it, and she still didn't get it.
So, here she is once I told her that she was here for a surprise shower.

Tiffany doesn't know the sex of her baby, although she is fairly certain she knows what she is having, so I had to find a theme that was unisex. She also loves the color green. So, I found some cute party stuff that was a pea in a pod theme. I thought it was pretty cute. So, my wonderful friend, Sara, helped me make prizes and favors that we think looked more like boats and corn husks. But, oh well. She also made a delicious chocolate strawberry cake. YUM.
Here's our cool Pea-bombs and candle boats...LOL..which really are supposed to be pea pod bath fizzies and pea pod candles. Sara and get quite ditzy whenever we attempt to do crafty things together...and Friday night, while working on the favors, was no exception. We thought we were pretty funny. But my hubby probably thought we were tipsy. LOL.

And here's one last photo of Miss Tiffany with a handmade blanket she received as a gift.

Then later that night, I watched Tiff's kids for her, so she and her hubby could go on a much needed date night. So, needless to say, Saturday fleeewww by.

Then Sunday flew too. Sara invited my family, Tiff's family and our mutual friend, Cari, over to her house for a barbecue / swim party for the kids. All of our kids play together very nicely. It was a lot of fun. The kids spent many hours outback in the pool, and yes, they were supervised. And us adults had some fun playing Wii sports and also Karaokee star. Well, the boys at that point played WoW. But us gals had a blast with it. We didn't leave their house until 8:30 P.M. So, again, it was a day that flew.
And I left my camera at home and didn't get any shots of the kids at play. But they sure had tons of fun!

Today has been super busy. We had our water heater leak last weekend. So last week, we had it replaced. I put a call into the insurance company, because the carpet near the water heater had gotten pretty damp. They will be out tomorrow, but told me to have a mitigation company out this morning. So, I called one up and out they came. I had to shoo the kids upstairs with some play-doh to try to occupy them, while I followed the mitigation dude into the basement, which is also used as the day care playroom. I couldn't believe how much of the carpet was showing up as wet. It was even in our walls and baseboards too. He had to rip out some of the padding, but thankfully, we won't have to replace all of the carpet.

He had to also fill the area with dehumidifiers and other equipment. We have to leave it on 24/7 until they tell us that it is dry. Then they will replace the pad and clean our carpet. It will all be good as new. Of course, it's costing us our $500.00 deductible. YIKES!
And, the kids can't go into the playroom either, because this is what it looks like down there.

So, I've had to improvise and things.
It sure was a crazy afternoon, while the mitigation dude was here. Yes, I call him the mitigation dude. I was downstairs trying to go over everything with him, while the kids upstairs were trying to kill each other over a musical note cookie cutter type playdoh toy. Geez oh Pete.I had to keep running up and down and up and down. Wore me out. I also had to clean out all of the junk that I had let pile up near my washer machine, because the baseboards over there were wet too. So, I was a busy bee...and meanwhile the kids were screaming like crazy.

So far, nap time has gone well. Even with two of them sleeping right behind me. They are usually in the play room sleeping.

I think I need a nap!

Lifted High

Well, I had a few quirks to work through, but last week, I finished my first official butterfly kisses blog design for Christina over at Lifted High Check out her blog and find out the meaning behind her chosen header and blog name.

It was fun working on it, but I learned that I have so much more to learn. It's so frustrating when you work on a site in Internet Explorer and everything is fine, but then you switch over to firefox, and it's all a jumbled mess. But as frustrating as it can be, it's also what makes it so much fun. It's like putting together a puzzle and when the pieces all finally fit together, you just feel like you accomplished something. I also love how it allows me to be creative. It's fun!
