For the director of music. Of David.
1 The fool [a] says in his heart,
"There is no God."
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven
on the sons of men
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.
3 All have turned aside,
they have together become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.
4 Will evildoers never learn—
those who devour my people as men eat bread
and who do not call on the LORD ?
5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread,
for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
but the LORD is their refuge.
7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
Footnotes:
1. Psalm 14:1 The Hebrew words rendered fool in Psalms denote one who is morally deficient.
The King James version of this scripture says, ’only a fool says in his heart, there is no God…
Okay folks, so here's the deal.....I am working on a post for this. There are so many avenues one could go down in talking about this Psalm. There is so much proof of God's existence, so much evidence of Christ's existence and so many stories on how God works in the lives of His believers every second of every day.
When I read this Psalm, I remembered back to a book I read in Biology class when I attended Huntington University. We read, Darwin's Black Box by Michael Behe. It was phenomenal. I am working on a post that discusses some of the evidence talked about within the pages of the book. I am also going to direct you toward stories of miracles as well.
So, stay tuned. I will post it later tonight. But for now, here is the Mister Linky for all you Psalms Sunday participants.
